Vintage 1980s clock

vintage 1980s clock
Clock made in England, movement is from Japan. Simple, clean design plastic clock which will appeal to anyone who is going after the 1980s look in their home or office. Nice, bright hands in primary colours. You will need one AA battery. Dimensions are near enough 25.5cm diameter by 4cm deep. Clock face is a very dark grey - almost black. The surround is a light grey. There are some very minor light scuffs to the window, and a couple of minor edge knocks at the rear of the surround.  These minor faults, which are expected with a used item this age, are barely noticeable but only fair to point them out. Overall condition with stated is VERY GOOD.

For a good old-fashioned sing-song!

Vintage songs "The Forties" 1940s music songbook

The Forties

"The world went back to war in the Nineteen Forties. As usual the troops, and the families and friends they left behind, had music to keep them company. Love songs, torch songs, songs to help you remember and some to help forget. And when it was all over, there were songs to help in the celebrations."

Large softcover, songbook for voice and piano with chord names for guitar. This is a fantastic selection of songs from the era, and will be a great addition to the collections of vintage lifestyle enthusiasts, music societies, re-enactment groups and more. As well as the songs, there are 25 preliminary full page iconic images from the era. A little corner curling otherwise in VERY GOOD condition. See the images below of the blurb and the contents.

Vintage kitsch cork 3D effect exotic scene

This will look great on the wall of your mid-twentieth century themed vintage home. I am not sure of the era, but I feel it will fit comfortably into the period 1950s through to 1970s. It is in great condition. There is a little triangular loop on the back for hanging. Approx 9 by 7.25 inches (23 by 18.5 cms).

Vintage 1940s parenting book Preparing for Motherhood

Preparing for Motherhood and Training in Infancy and Childhood by Evelyn Pantin

Classic 1940s parenting book. Hardcover in dustjacket, 10th edition January 1946 (1st was February 1932). There are 16 pages of introductory material and advertising, then the main body of the book is 168 pages, then a further 35 pages of ads and finally an index to advertisers. This adverts are wonderful and really evoke the age. The jacket  is in poor condition with tears, loss, wear and creasing. The book itself however, is in VERY GOOD condition with clean and bright pages. Book is approx 5 by 7.5 inches.

2 Vintage poodle ornaments

Two lovely poodle ornaments, probably from the 1950s. These look and feel like wood, though there is a seam up the middle, so could possibly be made from a very good wood substitute.
The big one stands about nearly 8 inches tall. The little one is about 3.25 inches tall. Not entirely flat on the bottom (there might have been a label or something on the base??), so when placed on the mantelpiece they wobble for a second, but do sit up straight.
There are a couple of minor expected marks, but overall condition is VERY GOOD.

Thetford Vintage Retro 1960s 1970s Melamine Serving Tray
Excellent vintage piece. It is the little things like this that make your vintage-themed home just so!

Trays are very popular accessory items for the vintage home, but especially so the Thetford trays.

Aside from a some brown marks on the bottom, and remains of a label, this is in great condition. Approx 17.75 inches (45cm) by 8.5 inches (22cm).

Vintage Hello Kitty Tin Lunchbox "We're So Lucky To Have Each Other" - "It's a Special Day"

Wording on the rear reads "Sanrio 780 JX JZ" then a little Japanese text, then "Made in Japan © 1976, 1990 SANRIO CO. LTD."  dfg

Over 20 years old - 1990 - might actually be a re-issue of a 1976 product. It is made of tin with plastic handles. The gingham pattern and some of the red around the sides is a little faded in places, some small pressure marks, a few spots of corrosion here and there, otherwise in VERY GOOD condition. Measures approx 7.5 by 4.5 by 3 inches.

Vintage stackable Tupperware kitchen shakers

These will look great in any vintage themed kitchen, but we think they will look their best in the context of the VW campervan. They look 1970s, judging by the colours. There  are four here and you can use them for, well, whatever you like really: flour, herbs or spices. Whatever will sensibly go through the holes. Colours are orange, yellow, olive green, rust red, approx 2.5 inches diameter and 2.25 inches height. There is a little fading to two of these (the yellow and green ones) and a slight 'crazing' on one the yellow one, this is difficult to see unless you look closely. Acceptable age and wear for items in VERY GOOD condition, with stated. We have them on Etsy at the moment, but if you are known to us we are happy to arrange meet and collect.

Lava Lamps, just a tiny taster of what is to follow.

We are still sorting through which lava lamps we will be moving on, and just as a quick taster here is a quickie photo of one corner piled up with some of the lamps. By the way, the boxes are full: haven't taken the lamps out for the photo, the ones you can see are unboxed as far as I am aware, though @mrscollectini might have boxes hidden away somewhere?

This is just some of what we have. Includes both Mathmos and Crestworth, and there will be spare parts i.e. bottles, bases and caps, as well. There are some Fluidiums too, glitterballs and glitterlamps. We don't know quite where we will be listing them, i.e. feebay, ebid.net or etsy, but if you are local and already known to us you can meet and collect.

We will be posting a blog entry with our final choices soon.

Lanthe Ashtray - we had to have it but...

We thought this looked great and had to have it, but we know very few people who smoke and it was taking up a space which we wanted to fill with a reading lamp, so it had to go...

Lava lamps and other funky lighting

We have grudgingly decided that we are selling off a number of lava, and other funky  lamps from our collection. We just don't have the space anymore, to either display them or sensibly store them.

Most of them are in their original boxes, which is great as it protects them and makes them easier to store, but actually takes up more storage space. Count has been lost as to how many lamps we have - sometimes a day goes by and a forgotten one is found lurking in a corner behind a pile of other vintage and retro collectables.

So, as soon as @mrscollectini has photographed them, the photos will be posted here for you to take your pick - though no doubt @mrcollectini will want to do the final photos - we both have differing opinions on how to display a lava lamp - that is another blog post in itself!

Here is a favourite - which is not for sale - and a small feline friend.
