Cowes "Start of the Race" by JC Sibley vintage thread art ~ mid century kitsch

Thread and material sown onto a cloth background and mounted on two boards. It is called: Cowes "Start of the Race" and is by JC Sibley. I am guessing this was done sometime within the 1950s to 1970s. It measures approx 17 inches by 21 inches (approx 35.5cm by 53cm). Depicts the start of a race during Cowes Week. I don't know anything about the artist, so would welcome any info. This will appeal on many levels. If you are kitting-out your home out in a mid 20th century kitsch style it will look great, or you may know a sailing enthusiast who would appreciate this.

We dont have this listed on Etsy yet, but if you want it, convo or tweet @collectini and we'll list it. If you are known to us we'll arrange meet and collect.

Please see the images below and ask any questions you might have. Thank you.

Our first etsy listing - Chance Glass pin tray

Although we are not officially opening our Etsy shop until January 2012, it will still take time to get the shelves filled, so between now and then you will see items appear in the shop. It is OK, you don't need to wait until January 2012 to buy, you can still go ahead as usual.

Not being used to Etsy, we found it took a little longer than it would to list on any of the other online retail sites. Sure we'll get used to it though! It seems you have to think in USD$ regarding the pricing of the item and postage, so if any of our prices seem erratic, please ask why. Anyway here is our very first Etsy offering, a cute little Chance Glass pin tray.

Orange and yellow floral 1970s tea cosy

I don't know about keeping the teapot warm - I am not liking this November journey towards winter's cold days.

This is giving me a Club Tropicana earworm

This one has sold, but I have another very similar one here. It would be fair to say that 1980s styles are at the very edge of our mid-century collecting continuum, and we don't often pick up bits and pieces of that style. This just had to be had though - just for a short while mind you, as it doesn't really fit in with the rest of our mish-mash of stuff. "Club Tropicana, drinks are freeeeee....."

Vintage kitsch print Alfredo Palmero - Rossana Podestà ?

We were so sorry to see this beautiful lady go.

It has been suggested to us that the model might have been Rossana Podestà, best known for her lead role in Robert Wise's 1956 film  Helen of Troy. The artist is Alfredo Palmero de Gregorio. If anyone knows with any certainty if Rossana Podestà was the model, leave a comment or drop us a note via Twitter

Sold! Sorry!
