Square glass bowl. Age unknown though it is definitely in a 1970s style and in the colours very popular in that period. Approx 10 inches (25cm) square and about 1.5 inches (4cm) deep. In VERY GOOD condition.

Retro Radio Biscuit Tin

Retro vintage style radio biscuit tin lunch box with handle. Carry stuff, store stuff or just display with style!

This is a really fab looking item which is both ornamental and functional.
You can display it in practically any room in the house. And what about it's uses? Well it is a biscuit tin, or you can use it as a lunch box, and I have even seen these being used for storing make up or carrying your bits and pieces around town. It also makes for great general storage around the home. The handle pushes down against the body. Body of box measures approx 10 by 7 by 4 inches (approx 25 by 17.5 by 10 cm).

Lava lamps and other funky lighting

We have grudgingly decided that we are selling off a number of lava, and other funky  lamps from our collection. We just don't have the space anymore, to either display them or sensibly store them. 

Most of them are in their original boxes, which is great as it protects them and makes them easier to store, but actually takes up more storage space. Count has been lost as to how many lamps we have - sometimes a day goes by and a forgotten one is found lurking in a corner behind a pile of other vintage and retro collectables.

So, as soon as @mrscollectini has photographed them, the photos will be posted here for you to take your pick - though no doubt @mrcollectini will want to do the final photos - we both have differing opinions on how to display a lava lamp - that is another blog post in itself!

A candle powered Mathmos Lava Lamp! Would you believe it?

So my last post was all about 1970s power cuts and how people had to light up their life with torches and candles. Even though the 1970s saw widespread use of the Lava Lamp, they would have been pretty useless during a power cut. It is such a shame that candle-powered Lava Lamps, such as this one, weren't around then, as they are now. These are made by Mathmos. No electricity required - just needs a good quality tealight and a reasonable wait of about 20-30 minutes to get going. We already have far too many Lava Lamps, as you will see from our future posts, so this R1 and the bigger O1, are available.

Vintage Coral Radiogram Clock

This clock, in the shape of a radiogram, looks as if it has come straight out of a British manufacturer sometime in the 1950s or 1960s, but it is in actual fact Japanese and was probably made in the 1970s. No matter when or where it was made, it looks fab!
