Square glass bowl. Age unknown though it is definitely in a 1970s style and in the colours very popular in that period. Approx 10 inches (25cm) square and about 1.5 inches (4cm) deep. In VERY GOOD condition.

You know when you forget you have something... then remember

Maybe it was something to do with it being such a sunny day, though you wouldn't think so from the picture.

We'd love to keep these, but we just don't have the room.

Lava lamps and other funky lighting

We have grudgingly decided that we are selling off a number of lava, and other funky  lamps from our collection. We just don't have the space anymore, to either display them or sensibly store them. 

Most of them are in their original boxes, which is great as it protects them and makes them easier to store, but actually takes up more storage space. Count has been lost as to how many lamps we have - sometimes a day goes by and a forgotten one is found lurking in a corner behind a pile of other vintage and retro collectables.

So, as soon as @mrscollectini has photographed them, the photos will be posted here for you to take your pick - though no doubt @mrcollectini will want to do the final photos - we both have differing opinions on how to display a lava lamp - that is another blog post in itself!

Lanterns! It's not quite halloween, but here's some we made earlier

Setting aside the fact that it is getting colder, and we're heading towards winter, we still love this time of the year. With "the nights fair drawing in" it is time to get the house all cosied-up. We have a fair few vintage pieces of lighting, especially lava lamps, to help warm up the look of the house, but this is a great way to light up your life in October - the Jack-O-Lantern. We made these ones a few years back now. Every year we try to get a bigger pumpkin than last - you need to be quick though, there are many out there with the same idea. The supermarkets are usually brimming with pumpkins throughout October, but if you like a nice drive in the countryside, there are usually farmers selling pumpkins direct to the public.
